Overview

Restoran Salam Thai Seafood, nestled in the quiet enclave of Taman Desa Harmoni, Johor Bahru, is a noteworthy destination for those craving authentic Thai flavors with a local touch. This spacious and clean restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere that suits both casual gatherings and more intimate meals with friends or family. Its location, a bit off the main roads, adds a sense of peaceful retreat while still being accessible.

The menu shines with classic Thai seafood and meat dishes that reflect careful preparation and bold flavors. Highlights include the Siakap Steamed Limau, a delicately balanced dish where the zesty lime infuses the fresh seabass with a perfect harmony of sour and sweet, tinged with just a mild hint of chili. This dish frequently earns praise for standing among the best steamed fish available in Johor Bahru’s Thai restaurant scene.

Equally memorable is the Oxtail Soup, celebrated for its deep, rich broth that envelops each spoonful with layers of savory goodness, though some may find the meat a touch chewy. This hearty soup pairs wonderfully with the famed Satay, served with skewers of beef and chicken that are tender and complemented by a peanut sauce that some suggest could be less sweet to better balance the smoky flavors.

The Tomyam Campur is another standout, offering a vibrant, spicy-sour broth brimming with fresh seafood and herbs, capturing the essence of traditional Thai cuisine. For those who enjoy a variety of textures, the Puyuh Quail and crispy fried options such as the bean sprouts add a nice contrast.

Service at Restoran Salam Thai Seafood tends to be swift, even during busy nights, ensuring minimal wait times that enhance the overall dining experience. The staff is friendly, contributing to a relaxed vibe where guests can enjoy their meals without rush. Drinks, including the refreshing Teh AIS, offer a pleasant reprieve from the spice without overshadowing the meal.

With prices that represent good value and a consistently growing crowd, especially during late hours, this restaurant appeals to locals and visitors alike who seek genuine Thai food in a comfortable setting. Although recent visits hinted at subtle fluctuations in flavor possibly due to changes in the kitchen staff, the owner’s return to cooking seems to revive the beloved tastes of earlier experiences.

Restoran Salam Thai Seafood stands as more than just a dining spot; it’s a place to savor warm hospitality and authentic flavors that reflect the rich culinary heritage of Thai seafood fare, all within a convenient Johor Bahru neighborhood. Whether you’re after a satisfying meal after a long day or a lively night out with friends, Salam Thai Seafood delivers an experience worthy of return visits.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I randomly picked Salam Thai Restaurant, and I'm so glad I did! There were four of us, and we ordered Set B. The food was absolutely delicious. The steamed sea bass was amazing, and the beef soup was full of flavor. Everything we had was just great! The customer service was friendly, and we only waited about 5 minutes for our food. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Thai food that's both satisfying and great value for money. Definitely coming back!

Thurs 23.3.2022 9.30pm. Restaurant close at 1.30am. Restaurant spacious and clean. Food arrived about 15 minutes after order since only about 10 people. Quite a number of people came after 10.00pm. 1. Seabass lemon - nice a bit spicy 4/5 2. Oxtail soup - the soup is excellent except for a bit chewy meat 4/5 3. Fried Quail - ok 3/5 4. Fried Bean sprout - nice 4/5 5. Drinks - big size but warm rather then hot 3/5 6. Satay Babat, beef & chicken - i like a lot but could be better if the peanut sauce contains less sugar 4/5 Update Tues 17.5.2022 8.50pm & Wed 18.5.2022 9.00pm. 1. Oxtail soup 2. Tomyam campur 3. Kailan ikan masin 4. Sate ayam & daging Service super quick where food arrived in less than 10 minutes. Oxtail soup & Tomyam - so far the best that I ve ever tested 5/5. Sate's quality and taste maintain as good per my visit in March. Price reasonable. Growing crowd even after 10.00pm shows good services & food quality. Recommended. 7 Nov 2022. 9.30pm. Not sure whether they change the chef. Now the owner himself doing the cooking. Food's taste today just average. No longer the tastiest in JB. Hope they improve. 30 Apr 2023 9.30pm Mungkin tukang masak baru sbb rasa makanan sedap mcm mula2 makan di sini. 1.. Siakap steam limau - antara yg tersedap di mana2 restoran makanan Thai di JB. Lemon masam manis. Terasa chili tp tidak pedas sgt. 2. Sop ekor - kuah sedap. Cuma daging agak liat sedikit.
